Urban Game & Treasure Hunt
A historic centre becomes the course, and the team splits up to win together.
A guided tour shows you a place. An urban game shows you how your group organises itself to cross it: who reads the map, who decides to split, who keeps the time, with people you usually share only a meeting with. What stays, the day after, is that knowledge made on the run.
What happens
The team gets a mission, a map and a time limit. Along the route there are checkpoints to reach, riddles to solve and creative challenges where teams compete: each one demands the best, and the points are counted at the end. The city is the course, and the challenges are built on what is really there.
Where we have run it
Milan, Venice, Verona, Rome, Turin, Florence, Como, Bergamo, Lucca and Catania. Abroad, Barcelona, Istanbul, Prague, Malta, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For Florence, Rome and Venice there is also Rescue Team, a mission format built for each city. If your city is not here, ask: it usually takes us one visit to build a route.
What it looks like
Thirty seconds of a real urban game, filmed as it happened.
When it fits
It works well when the group is already in town for a convention and has an afternoon to use properly, and when you want people from different offices to know each other by the end of the day. It works less well under 90 minutes, when a compressed activity turns into a cross-country run, when the goal is deep work on an internal conflict, or when the season makes the streets impossible and there is no indoor plan B.
The formats
Urban Game with app, with tablets, challenges unlocking in sequence and a live ranking. Treasure Hunt, the classic, with physical clues and a real treasure. Rescue Team, a mission to complete in Florence, Rome or Venice. Urban Movie, a short film shot in the streets. Mysteries and Crimes, a cold case set in the real city. Segway City Tour, for incentive groups that land already tired.
Three questions
Is it in English?
Yes: briefing, materials, app and facilitators. Bilingual when the group is mixed.
How many people?
From 15 to 200, in teams of six to ten. Above 100 the activity runs in waves.
How long?
Ninety minutes to two hours, which is the slot a convention agenda usually leaves, and the route is built to fit it. Three hours if your programme has the room: the course gets longer, not slower.
